Day 6: REST
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” Genesis 2:2
Genesis 1 provides us with the portrait of Jehovah-Elohim, our strong Creator God, through the account of creation as well as the establishment of day [and] night, time.
Then, Genesis 2:2 brings the setting of EXAMPLE, one for us to follow. He had finished the work he had been doing [and] RESTED.
I AM, the inexhaustible one, who neither slumbers, nor sleeps does in fact REST.
REST is important for each of us. It is a protective hedge about us.
Inasmuch as we were designed for GLORY, we were also designed with a need for REST.
As REST, the fullness of all God intended REST to be, has proven elusive to me this week, I am praying this prayer THIS day:
“Search me, O God, [and] know my HEART; try me [and] know my anxious thoughts. See if there be any hurtful way in me, then [take me by the hand] and lead me in your Ways. LORD, show me your GLORY, your hope, your intention toward me [in] REST, THIS day.”
